TPS62742: TPS62742: TPS62742 maximum output current

Part Number: TPS62742

Let me understand this, When CTRL gets enable it connects Vout to Load internally and allows up to 400mV of current on the load pin? Its this what is consider 100% mode?

  • Hi Juan,

to better understand the 100% mode please refer to the Decription section of the datasheet:

"Once the battery voltage comes close to the output voltage (close to 100% duty cycle) the device enters no ripple 100% mode operation to prevent an increase of output ripple voltage."

You'll find the voltage thresholds to enter and leave the 100% mode as part of the Electrical Characteristics table. Please also see Section 9.4.2 of the datasheet for more details.

    Best regards,

    Britta

  • Oh ok, However i would like to know if the load pin can output 400mv max. when the Control pin is set high and there is power on Vout.

  • Hi Juan,

could you please quickly clarify whether you are interested in the output current or output voltage?

Also please see the specification for the maximum output voltage and current respectively.

    Best regards,

    Britta

  • I am interested on the output current because am trying to send 3.3v to a chip that requires a maximum of 250mA and i wanted to know if this chip will be able to provide that amount or more of current. What is the maximum current output on the Load pin?

  • Hi Juan,

as stated in the datasheet Table 8.3 Recommended Operating conditions the maximum load current at the load pin is 100 mA, while the maximum total current (load current + output current) is 400 mA. You can have a look at section 9.3.2 for the specifics with regards to the load pin and how to connect output and load current.

    Best regards,

    Britta
