USB 2.0 power supply with power switches

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25810, TPS2045A, TPS2045, TPS2514, TPS2546

Hi All,

For a motor control application I need a suggestion for a power switch.

A USB 2.0 type connection is provided on the board.

This connection requires a 5 Volt power supply to supply the connected external devices.

At the moment I use the same 5 V power supply as the internal circuitry, simply protected by a fuse.

However, I would like to de-couple it, in order to avoid that any short or abnormal current draws can affect the internal circuitry.

I know there are components that do these things.

Does TI have anything in the portfolio?

I need a component that can be powered at least up to 24 Vdc, in order to eventually use this power supply, and that is compatible with USB 2.0.

Will you let me know if you have anything? That should be easily available, of course.

I was thinking of TPS25810 but this is too way complex for customer aims.

Besides, it limits the current to 500 mA, while customer would like to limit it to a lower value.

Which are your suggestions here also taking into account availability and longevity of the products? May be TPS2045 or TPS2045A?

Many Thanks,

Antonio
