CSD19538Q3A: Avalanche energy rating

Part Number: CSD19538Q3A

Hi Team,

My customer wants to know the avalanche energy rating under continuous pulse conditions.

The current data sheet specifies 8.1 mJ for a single pulse.

Is it possible to indicate the energy rating for a continuous pulse?
Of course, it must be a reference value, not a guarantee.

Or if there is a method to estimate the avalanche energy under continuous pulse from the current single pulse specification (8.1 mJ, single pulse), please let me know.

Regards,

H.Someno

  • Hello Someno-san,

Thank you for promoting TI FETs at your customers. TI does not rate or guarantee our FETs for repetitive avalanche. I have seen some competitors that do and typically the derating is 1/10th to 1/100th of the single pulse rating. Please note, TI has not completed any repetitive avalanche testing of our MOSFETs and therefore we have no data on how they will perform or how much they need to be derated from the single pulse specification included in the datasheet. We have no plans to do any repetitive avalanche testing. We do not recommend operating our FETs in repetitive avalanche as this may lead to increased DPPM failures.
