LM3485: Hysteretic Control Mode

Part Number: LM3485

Hi team,

I have two questions about Hysteretic Control Mode.

1. "No clock or error amplifier is needed, so operating current is very low. " Why?

2. “A certain amount of ripple is required at the output from the output capacitor’s ESR.” Why?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

    1. Internal clock and error amplifier working will cause a little power loss. So saving these functions makes internal operating current less.

    2. Without internal clock, the converter relies on any external periodic signals, to achieve steady switching operation. Output ripple happens to be a good one and due to noise immunity a certain amount of ripple is needed.
