LMG3410R070: maximum operating frequency?

Part Number: LMG3410R070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3410R050

I want to use the LMG3410 in a 48-V low-side switching application. The datasheet shows 20-ns of prop delay for the driver section, indicating it should work up to about 50-MHz. But, supply current vs. switching frequency (figure 6) only reaches 1-MHz; extending to 40-MHz means that the 12-V supply current would exceed 1A (graph shows about an 8X supply current increase per decade of frequency).

What is the practical upper operating frequency for the LMG341xR050?

  • Hello Brian,

The maximum switching frequency of LMG3410R050 is around 1.2MHz. If the switching frequency is higher than this limit, the internal buck-boost converter which provides the gate charge will exceeds the max current limit and trigger UVLO.

In addition, the max switching frequency is limited by the thermal. While the switching frequency is high, make sure the GaN temperature is lower than 125C.

    Thanks,
