TPS2113A: Failure Modes(Overvoltage on IN1 and IN2)

Part Number: TPS2113A

Hello,

Can we share any data on the failure mode of overvoltage on IN1 and IN2 of the TPS2113ADRBR power switch?

Thanks!

  • Hi Lindsey,

Thank you for reaching out to the E2E forum.

Unfortunately we don't guarantee any failure modes since failures are unpredictable in nature and we don't design all of our parts to fail in a specific way.

  • I understand.  I am not asking for particular specifications.  I have a prototype board to which I believe I have applied too high a voltage.  I'm trying to debug its incorrect behavior and believe I have damaged the TPS2113A.  It's hard to tell unless I know roughly what happens when it fails.  If you can give me any info, I certainly won't hold you too it.

  • Hi James,

Since we don't design our parts to fail a specific way one of three things could occur.

The part could fail open and essentially create an open circuit. The part could fail close and create a short circuit. The last thing is that the part could fail and create a path to ground. I know this doesn't narrow down too much but I hope it helps.
