TPS798-Q1: TPS79850 correct usage EN pin and SENSE pin

Part Number: TPS798-Q1

Dear sir,

I'd like to use TPS79850 as a 5V regulator.

So I'd like to confirm following usage is correct or not.

1. If the EN pin becomes low, then this device will become shutdown mode.

When the shutdown mode, I think this device can provide "no output" is correct?

2. Does EN pin have internal pull down? Should this pin have anything care?

3. For SENSE pin, can I connect this pin to OUT pin directory? (It means is it require voltage divider registor?)

  • Hi,

    For question #1:

In Shutdown mode, the device no longer sources current to the output. Note: Any voltage at the output is only passively discharged via the FB resistors or internal sense resistor plus any current darn by the load.

    For Question #2:

The Enable pin should not be left floating. It must be actively driven to ensure the proper operating mode.

    For Question #3:

The SENSE pin is used for the fixed 5V option. This should be tied directly to VOUT. The resistor divider is internal.

    I hope this helps.
