TLV627432: max output current

Part Number: TLV627432

Hi team,

Customer has one question about tlv627432. As in the datasheet show, VOUTnom + 0.7 >= 2.15V, max output current is 300mA; VOUTnom + 0.7 >= 3V, max output current is 400mA.

If Vin = 5V, Vout =1.8V or 1.2V, both max output curent would be 300mA. Does my understanding correct? Hope you could give some comments to this.

Thanks and best regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Since the Vin is 5V in both cases, the device should be able to support 400mA for a Vout of 1.8V and 1.2V

    I hope this answers your question. Feel free to get back if you need further help.

    Thanks,

    Zain Riaz

  • Hi Zain,

    Thanks for your reply.

    Could I understand that if Vin>=2.15V, and Vin >= VOUTnom+0.7, output current max is 300mA;

    If Vin >= 3V, and Vin >= VOUTnom+0.7, output current max is 400mA;

    Does my understanding make sense?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Will

  • Hi Will,

    Yes. That is exactly what the equation in datasheet means. The way I see it is as follows:

    • 400mA is only achievable if: 5.5V≥VIN≥3V, keeping in mind that the following condition always has to be fulfilled: VIN≥VOUTnom+0.7V
    • 300mA is only achievable if: 5.5V≥VIN≥2.15V, keeping in mind that the following condition always has to be fulfilled: VIN≥VOUTnom+0.7V

    I hope this clarifies the conditions.
