TPS62143: Selection of suitable buck converter for application

Part Number: TPS62143
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62142

Hi all!

In my application, I use a 3S2P Li-ion battery to power my board. The battery has max. voltage around 12.6V to 13.5V after full charge and around 7.5V after full discharge.

Also, I made a jumper provision to use 5V from power bank or external power supply in the absence of li-ion battery.

Either 5V output from regulator output or 5V from power bank/External power supply shall power some on-board circuitry. This 5V would then be converted to 3.3V for the operation of microcontroller and other onboard circuitry.

Max. current expected is around 1A. In practice, it would be even less than 1A. To be on safe side, I am going with regulators that can drive 2 A output current.

I found a buck-boost regulator TPS630701 (5V fixed output version) and a buck regulator TPS62143 close to my requirement.

Request the experts here to please suggest which would be a better choice to do the job for my requirement.

Best Regards,

Raghavan
