UCC28950: Changing the voltage level of output PWM signals

Part Number: UCC28950

Hi,

Is there a way to change the voltage level of the output PWM signals (i.e. OUTA, OUTB, OUTC etc.) on this chip? Right now, the output voltage level is the same as the input supply voltage (VDD). However, I need to run the chip with VDD=9V and have an output voltage level of 5V to use as the input of another IC. Unfortunately, I cannot change these voltage levels. I was wondering if this chip can adjust the output voltage level by itself.

  • Hello,

These drivers were design to drive FETs with a Vgs(th) of typically 4.5V.  To fully engage these FETs generally requires 8 V of drive.

It sounds like you are trying to drive logic level FETs.  If this is the case just use a resistor divider off the gate drives.

The other option is to use a gate driver that limits the gate voltage to 5 V.

    Regards,
