TPS63020: Clarification required on the simplified schematic in the datasheet "TPS63020".

Part Number: TPS63020

In TPS63020 datasheet the sample schematic show that the EN pin #12 is connected to GND through the capacitor C3.

Then in the WEBENCH Power Designer also displays the same schematic as in the datasheet. (i.e) EN pin #12 is connected to the GND through the capacitor C3.

In the same datasheet at page #4 in pin functions table, it is stated that the EN pin #12  should be kept high to perform the operation of the IC. This is also explained in page #9 section 7.3.3 (Device Enable)

In the user guide “TPS63020EVM-487” , the EN pin #12 is kept high by connecting it to VIN.

Kindly clarify the simplified schematic in the datasheet of TPS63020.

  • Hi Abuthahir,

Please refer to Figure 3, you can see there is an internal resistor from VIN to VINA. This is a 100 Ω resistor which together with the capacitor on VINA pin filters the input power supply for the internal control circuit. VINA voltage is practically the same as the VIN voltage, therefore EN pin can be connected to either VIN or VINA pin.

Thanks for pointing this out, we will make this clear in the next revision of the datasheet.

    Best regards,
    Milos
