LM3450AEV120V30: Source for T1 transformer in LM3450

Part Number: LM3450AEV120V30

Hello,

I was not able to find the same transformer 750813651 as in "AN-2150 LM3450A Evaluation Board".

There was a recommendation to use 760871333 in the following link.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/283973

I just want to double check if that works fine.

Thank you,

Ali

  • Hello Ali,

It appears it will work however the turns ratio is different.  You will have to go through the calculations of your design to see if the turns ratio is acceptable.  The secondary looks like it can be set up for three different output voltages due to the three separate windings.  The primary bias ratio will be different.  Where the EVM design has 50V to 12.5V, this one, with all the secondaries in series, will be 36V to 15V.  The primary to secondary will be similar, 2:1 versus 6.25:3.  Due to the lower inductance the switching frequency will be a little higher.  You can design your LED load around this transformer or you can just design a transformer for your specification.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Irwin,

That was helpful. I will go with 760871333 for my first try. If any need comes up I will go with the custom design.

    Thank you,

    Ali
