Hi,

I ask you about the latch-up of the LMZ23605.
This device has passed the latch-up test under the conditions specified in JESD78.

Question 1
If current or voltage stress exceeding the conditions specified in JESD78 is applied to the device, are there any measures to prevent destruction?
Please let me know if there is a document that describes latch-up measures.

Question 2
For example, under the condition of VIN = 0V and VOUT = 5V, will the device be destroyed?

  • Hi Kaji,

    Please have a look at this white paper app note that goes over the subject of latchup.

    1. Looking at the app note, it looks like the over-voltage stress test is 1.5 x Vmax and follows the test profiled detailed in Figure 6

    2. I would not recommend running the device in this condition. This will result in the converter sinking current and could potentially damage the internal gate drivers and IC of the power module.

  • The device has been tested and passes the JESD78 standards for latch-up. Any protection against latch-up will be based on the JESD78 standard.

    What are you planning on using this device for? What is your input/output/load application condition and what is the concern for latch-up in your case?
