TPSM53602: The difference between EVM and datasheet.

Hi team,

 

Our customer will use TPSM53602 with the below condition

-       Input voltage : 15V or 24V

-       Output voltage : 6.8V

 

Here is the inquiries from them.

-       Configuration of UVLO.

  • Should customer configure that UVLO is about 10V since output voltage is 6.8V considering light load condition to avoid the output voltage ripple ?

-       What is the purpose of R4 in the EVM ?

-       In the datasheet, RFBT should be 10kohm as recommendation but the value in the EVM is different. Please give us the reason why there is the gap for datasheet.

-       In the EVM, R1 is 402k ohm and the value is different from the datasheet which recommend 100k ohm.
Please give us the reason.

    1. If the customer cares about power consumption, I would set the UVLO as close to the desired input voltage as possible. If not the EN can be directly pulled to VIN to start up at 3.55V (typical).
    2. The purpose of R4 (20 ohm) is an injection resistor for frequency bode plot analysis. It does not need to be there for customer application. The EVM enables application engineers to easily probe and test the EVM.
    3. I believe the RFBB of 10kOhm was used since it was easier to calculate the required top resistors for each output voltage option given the way the resistor divider network is connected in the EVM. Also choosing larger resistor ratio values will result in lower additional output current consumption. In the datasheet's case for 5V output application, you can choose a Rfbt of 10kOhm and Rfbb of 2.49kOhm.You can stick with the recommendation in the datasheet. 
    4. The 402kOhm is a weaker pull up resistor to VIN but will work the same as 100kOhm. You can stick with 100kOhms for your pull up to VIN.
