Hi

A customer is evaluating TLV62084A 

Engineer found difficulty to benchmark the switching frequency as the measured result does not tally with webench and the needed parameter does not include in datasheet

Test Condition: Vin = 5V, Vout=1.8V Iout=1.1A,

Webench report shows Fsw=2.82MHz

Webench Simulation (Steady State) shows average Fsw=2.344MHz

Bench test on customer  board = 2.069MHz

 

Questions

1. Could you explain the webench result discrepancy 2.82MHz vs 2.344MHz? Which parameter should be taken as reference?

2. Could you provide the chart with Vin 5V, Vout 1.8V / 0A - 2A (similar to Fig8 in the datasheet) ?

3. What is the expected Fsw tolerance (assume fix load @ 1.1A) ?

    Excuse me for a slightly delayed response due to Easter break. Please see my comments below regarding your query:

    1. Could you explain the webench result discrepancy 2.82MHz vs 2.344MHz? Which parameter should be taken as reference?

    Both the results are based on simulations. The important thing to consider here is that the results are not too far apart from each other. I do agree that in this case there is a big discrepancy. However I can share some results with you from actual hardware tests and the Fsw for similar test conditions is 2.5Mhz

    2. Could you provide the chart with Vin 5V, Vout 1.8V / 0A - 2A (similar to Fig8 in the datasheet) ?

    3. What is the expected Fsw tolerance (assume fix load @ 1.1A) ?

    There is no concrete number here, but I can say that upto 30% tolerance in Fsw can be expected
