TPS54160A: 100% duty

Part Number: TPS54160A

Hi,

Could you please give me your advice for 100% duty? The datasheet shows Boot-PH voltage keep >2.1V. I would like to know if the Boot is connect to Vin?

e.g. if user would like to set Vout = 10V,  should Vin be over 12.1V?

Regards,
Nagata.

  • Hi Nagata,

The Cboot cap will be charged once external Schottky diode turn-on and cause SW node drop to zero, so Vin>3.5V is enough to charge Cboot above 2.1V.

You need to pay attention on PSM mode, the device stay at standby mode for quite long time without switching, this may cause Cboot drop below 2.1V.
