LM4140: LM4140 Boosted Output Current

Part Number: LM4140

Dear team,

My customer would like to increase output current for LM4140. Figure 30 on the datasheet is given for this case, but node connections looks like to be missing on the schematics. Could you please fix it?

They would like to know if the can still get the same precision using this circuit?

Or do we have an alternative circuit which offer better precision?

Best Regards,

Caglar

  • Hi Caglar,

Every intersection should be a connection point should be connected. In this configuration the output will start conducting when the VBE is greater than -0.7V. One of the main drawbacks is that the PSRR will be worse so a stable VIN is necessary because there is limited feedback to filter out the transients from the VIN.

Another alternative is the following app note from the DAC team, you can replace the DAC with a voltage reference like the LM4140 for similar results..
