TPS53355: Rdson question with current

Part Number: TPS53355

Hello expert,

My customer is wondering why Rdson is smaller when output current is higher. May I know if you have Rdson vs. output current curve could share with us? Thanks!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

I will guess the customer is referring to the Rdson suggestions in the apps section for choosing the best TRIP resistance. It was found the current limit setting was more accurate when using these Rdson values at the different load currents.

The Rdson is not actually increasing with lighter current. Actually the opposite is usually true because at higher load currents the device will heat up which increases resistance.

Also I found that this has actually been asked before on E2E. Post linked below.
