BQ78PL114: FCC and RC Problems with Update

Part Number: BQ78PL114

Hi,

we have a product that we manufacture as a service that uses the bq78PL114. After assembly and calibration we cycle the Battery on our own custom Test Equipment. Alot of the cycled batteries do not update the FCC or even show a Remaining Capacity. We asked the Customer if he had encountered this Problem but he is still producing the same Battery parallel to us and never had Problems that the FCC does not update.

Since we work with different BQs we tried increasing the Relaxing Periods hour by hour in hope to find a way to "force" a FCC Update. But it is sporadic that some of the Packs are updating their FCC but others wont. I started to search for the Root cause of this and stumbled upon a Forumpost that no FCC/RC Updates occur as long as the SMBus is low. Since our Custom Test Equipment is not attached to the SMBus that might be the Reason ? We also had Batteries without a FCC Update that we run a Log with and so the Batterie actually had constant Communication and still did not update its FCC ?

Can we just use a Resistor Divider at the Packvoltage to pull up the SMBus Line to High Level without actually communicating with the Pack to prevent this "Sleep" ?

What kind of Cycle should we use to Force an FCC Update ? (e.g. xC Charging / Relax for xh / xC Discharge / Relax for xh)

Are there any Flags/Bits we can check to make sure the Chip is actually working ?

Thanks in Advance
