LM2930: LM2930SX-5.0 marking inquiry

Part Number: LM2930

Hello

Does anyone know what the difference is between the obsolete LM2930S-5.0 and LM2930SX-5.0? They both reference the same datasheet however I cannot find any information on what the 'X' signifies.

Thank you

  • Hi Rolf,

The difference appears to be the minimum quantity in the order and the packaging.

The LM2930S-5.0 would be a minimum quantity of 45 pieces in a tube while the LM2930SX-5.0 would be a minimum quantity of 500 pieces in a tape & reel.

The LM2940 is another LDO from this era which has additional details on the TO-263 package in the datasheet.
The datasheet has similar component numbers and the only difference in the table for the LM2940 is also 45 pieces vs 500 pieces minimum order.
In the tape and reel section it does list the "SX" version.

Going a step further I searched for the LM2930S in findchips.com and found the same thing.

    Thanks,
