TPS549D22: Unused PMBus pins

Part Number: TPS549D22

What is the "best practice" for unused PMBus pins? (PMB_CLK, PMB_DATA, SMB_ALRT#)

In the following post, the answer was "they can be left floating"
https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/711485?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=tps549d22%2520unused

But in this post, it was stated the Data and CLK pins can be tied to GND to help eliminate noise

---> What about a 10kΩ pullup to the BP pin?

A little clarification would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Darren

  • Hi Darren,

All 3 options are acceptable. The safest one would be to GND them to eliminate the risk of noise getting picked up. However with these being digital pins, I think it is very unlikely noise picked up on these pins could cause something to happen.
