TPS65917-Q1: How do I2C control power down

Check out the table in the datasheet labeled "OFF Requests". You can power down using GPIO5 (POWERHOLD), GPIO1 (if configured as RESET_IN), Long-press on PWRON pin, etc. The only way to shutdown via I2C is if you are using the DEV_ON bit with PWRON.
