LM5160DNTFBKEVM: OCP

Part Number: LM5160DNTFBKEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5160

Hi Team,

The customer applying LM5160 in flybuck topology.

They have two problem while testing the EVM:

1. Vout=3V, Vin = 5V,

When VIN = 5V, the output is short-circuited once, the current is not protected even after it reaches the current limit of 2.5A, and then the DUTY is turned off after the current peak reaches more than 5 A
The OCP equal to 2.5A has no action, and the DUTY keeps ON, so that the current continues to increase.

2. Vout=3V, Vin = 6V,

When Vin> 5.5V, the output is short-circuited once, and the current is turned off immediately after reaching the current limit of 2.5A, and the off time is close to the value calculated in the specification, indicating the OCP protection action of 2.5A.

As long as VCC is lower than 5.3V, OCP will not operate. When VCC is greater than 5.3V, OCP will operate, but the specification defines VIN RANGE = 4.5V-60V, then this part should also work normally when 4.5V, Is there a way to solve this problem?

Thanks and best regards,

Jamie
