TPS2051: Question of TPS2051 Waveforms on Over Current

Part Number: TPS2051

Hi Sirs,

Would you please assist us to review if customer's TPS2051 waveforms on OCP a normal behavior? There are regular triangle signals on over current condition (fig 1), while it returns to normal when load current was reduced (fig 2).

Fig-1:

Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi Wayne,

It's normal to return back as OC condition is removed.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.

If you have any other concern, contact me any time.

If you think resolved, please help click 'Issue is solved button'.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Ziv,

Thanks for supporting us. We have another question of the Fig-1, why do we get a period 100ms tri-angle waveforms with the FLT signal in over current condition? Is there an internal counter with cycle of 100ms? We assume the FLT cannot return to high in OC.

    Thank you and Best regards,

    Wayne Chen

  • Hi Wayne,

As datasheet indicates, the OC(Fault) flag will pull high as overcurrent is removed.

OC(Fault) usually has about 8ms delay to be pulled high for power switch. But I don't find this spec on datasheet.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.

If you have any other concern, contact me any time.

If you think resolved, please help click 'Issue is solved button'.

    Thanks.
