TPS62743: VSEL connections

Part Number: TPS62743

Hi, Is there a problem to connect VSEL1-3 and EN to VOS in order to get 3.3V of output?

The fact is, in PCB design, I prefer to make a clean design of the inductance between SW and Vout not tracing a track below that inductance.

Thanks.

  • Hi Ramiro,

Regarding connecting the EN pin to VOS, this is not a viable option because the EN pin needs to be set HIGH in order to start the operation of the converter. Since at the beginning VOUT (and VOS) is 0V, the EN pin will be LOW and thus the converter will never start functioning.

Regarding the VSEL pins, since these pins are digital just like the EN pin it is not recommended to connect them to a slowly ramping voltage like VOUT since they will be in the undefined region (between 0.4V and 1.1V) for some time.

So my recommendation would be to follow the typical application circuits on page 11 of the datasheet, connecting the EN pin to VIN and the VSEL pins either to GND or VIN.
