BQEVSW: Integrating BQ33100 with EV2400 with BQEVSW, I can't gain access to modify the component.

Hi, I'm developing a BQ33100 as a supercapacitor balancer integrated with EV2400.

As I connected the BQ33100 to EV2400 and then to my laptop, when I tried to read the data, the following error message popped up:

"Error reading Data Flash Subclass Data. Code = 772"

I searched through TI forum to resolve the issue.

I referred to this given solution, writing on 2-word command box the default access key: 0414 3672 and ffff ffff

However, even after trying this, I keep getting the same error message 772 as I try to read.

What should I do to successfully read the data? I can't do any modification since I keep fail on reading at first.

Hi Gijoo Kim,

Are you able to read SBS/RAM data(voltage, current, temperature) successfully?

I can read the voltage and current on the calibration menu,

but at the data flash menu, if I click read all, the error message appears. As I can't do read all, I'm unable to do write all and adjust the setting.

Thank you for the additional information.

The error is due to the gauge being in sealed state. Unseal the gauge to access data flash.

Please see section 8.3.7 Security (Enables and Disables Features) of datasheet for more information.

Thanks, this is what says about unsealkey on datasheet.

Based on my understanding, I followed this step:

1) click on pro from BQEVSW

2) at the Read SMB Block, type SMB command 60 and read.

3) the result was 04 14 36 72 (Hex)

4) go to SBS, write 2 word command

enter smb command, word1 1404 word 2 7236 and click ok

however, I'm still getting the error message "No Acknowledge: VB_T2H_NACK" when I try other commands

(example) smb command 01 --> display device name

Please review my steps. I tried commanding using both decimal numbers and hexadecimal numbers, but it seems that I still don't have full access to the device.

Please send to 0x00 register instead of 0x60.

Sir, I would appreciate if you specify on which register should I change to 0x00 and maintain 0x60 as a command. Please point out exactly which part of my step is wrong.

Hi Gijoo,

The SMBus Command field must be 0x00 instead of 0x60.

This thread was for related to Data Flash access and that has been answered. Please start a new thread if you have issues with unsealing.
