TPS62561: inverting buck application

Part Number: TPS62561

Dear team,

I need a negative output voltage(-0.8V_out) for RF ADC application which only consume 200mA load current.

The ripple performance have to within +/- 24mV.

Is TPS62561 a right solution? (It's acceptable, if we need to design an extra inductor/bead  to improve ripple performance)

Application:

3.3Vin to -0.8Vout @ 200mA load current.

Regards,

Ben

  • Hi Ben,

A buck converter in an inverting buck-boost topology can be made by following this reference design: TIDA-01405, different buck converters can be used in place of the one given in the reference design.

The least time consuming design should be to use a module with an integrated inductor such as the TPS82084.

For a converter without the integrated inductor (a less expensive option), I could recommend the TPS62821. Or for an even more cost-optimized approach the TLV62568A could be a good solution as well.

Note that the TPS62561 you mentioned has a minimum Vout of 0.85, so in the inverting configuration it cannot reach the -0.8V of your specifications.

    Kind regards,

    Davor
