TPS55332EVM: Why diode D1 is needed and is D1 current max8 mA?

Hi team,

Could you please tell me the reason why diode D1 is required? Is there problem if D1 is removed?
In addition, is D1 max current 8mA? Is it related to "Iq-normal" shown in TPS55332-Q1 datasheet "6.5 Electrical Characteristics"?

Hi Ochi-san,

Diode D1 is there to allow the OR-ing supply of internal supply from either the input voltage (before output hits regulation target) or the output voltage (after output hits the regulation target).

If you plan to have an external bias supply to power Vin instead of the input, then D1 should be depopulated.

Yes, 8mA is the bias current that the Vin pin will take after the part starts up.
