TPS7A4001: Local RF field sensitivity

Part Number: TPS7A4001

Hello

Since working with this regulator for telecom's radio head equipment development, I notice how sensitive the IC feedback path is to a local RF field over the cell-phone frequencies.

To minimize the sensitivity, feedback track lengths must be very short and have decoupling across both resistor dividers. Good RF shielding would help too but not always possible.

Any comments gratefully received?

  • Hi Robert,

Certainly, the layout and trace lengths can have an impact on RF immunity.  While we have not tested this, I would think scaling down the external FB resistors could help mitigate external RF from impacting the FB node.

Does this help to answer your question?
