LM5165: LM5165 convert VSSOP-10 type to DIP-10 type

Part Number: LM5165

Dear,

I bought the IC chip of TI,LM5165YQDGSRQ1. At first, I thought it was a DIP type chip, but it was a very very small chip that needs soldering for use.

The datasheet of LM5165YQDGSRQ1 shows that package type of this chip is 'VSSOP-10'.

But I can't find the way to use it with my circuit composed of discrete components. I want to use the chip as a DIP type converter in order to test with the bread board.

Would you please tell me which board can convert the VSSOP-10 type to DIP-10 type?

Thank you.

Seungho Yu

  • Hi

you may need generate the convert board by yourself. and we don't recommend you use converter board, cause dcdc works at switching mode, there are high di/dt and dv/dt at power stage,  the convert board will bring more inductance which make the voltage spike at Vin, SW and GND. the spike voltage may interfere the chips's work, worse case may damage the device.

    Thanks

  • Thank you for your answer.

If converter board may not perform well, would you please recommend the best way to drive the LM5165 DC/DC converter?

    Thanks

  • Hi

if you can make the on board design with LM5165 following datasheet layout guideline , it will be good.

Another solution you can make the LM5165 with external input and output component to module with another PCB, then assembly to your board .

    Thanks
