LM5176EVM-HP: LM5176

Part Number: LM5176EVM-HP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5118, LM5170, LM5176

Hi,

I have a application with below specifications:

Input - 10-60VDC

Output - 24VDC/20A

Can i use LM5176EVM-HP two boards and share current parallel to validate design and go for customization based on result and performance?

Can you recommend if any.

Regards,

Lakshmikanth.

  • Hello Lakshmikanth,

I think you should use a device that supports your input voltage range like LM5118 or LM5170.

The maximum recommended input voltage for LM5176 is 55V.

  • Hello Brigitte,

Thanks for your reply. I don't find any reference designs or EVK for this chip sets mentions for this for higher load currents.

My idea was to test with EVK and go for customization. to reduce design cycle time. However even in our case 60V is worst case input and typical voltage is 48V.

    Please share your recommendations.

  • Hello Lakshmikanth,

If you can make sure that the voltage in your application does not exceed 55V, you could use LM5176 and then I would not parallel 2 boards, but use the LM5176EVM-HP to experiment up to the rated power. In parallel you could use Webench to create a design of your power rating and experiment there in theory and at the end try this circuit on the EVM or order a design based on your Webench results.
