TPS60402: Operating temperature range and difference between Non-Q1 and Q1

Genius 15770 points
Part Number: TPS60402

Hello,
I have some questions for TPS60402 and TPS60402-Q1.

1)
Regarding TPS60402, its operating temperature range is defined as Tj (-40 to 125C).
But, its electoral characteristics is specified with Tc = -40 to 85C range.
Because Psi_JT is 3.3C/W, Tj is almost the same as Tc.
What does it mean? Does it just want to say this device should be used within Tc = -40 to 85 range.
Tj = -40 to 125C recommended range desn’t have so much meaning?

2)
My customer is considering to migrate from TPS60402 to TPS60402-Q1.
As far as I checked the both datasheets, the differences between them look like temperature range and ESD range.
Is there any other difference between them?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hi Oba,

Q1 and non Q1 part have similar performance but the Q1 part is qualified for AEQ-100 and have different temp range.

  • Hello Tanvee,

    Thanks for your reply.
I understand the difference between Q1 and non-Q1 version.

But I still need the answer for the belwo Question 1)
Could you tell me how we should understand this specification for non-Q1?

  • Hi Oba,

The device can operate till junction temp that is 125degree and device characterization is done in ambient temp. range. That's the reason for two different values. Device will operate up to 125degree junction temp.

Further discussion on going through the mail and I will close the thread here.
