PTH08T221W: Input and Output Capacitor Selection

We are using the TI module PTH08T221WAD in our design and our requirement is as mentioned below.
Input Voltage : 12V
Output Voltage : 3.65V
Output Current : 14A
Turbo Trans Needed : Yes

Below mentioned are our queries regarding Input and Output capacitor selection,

Why we need only Ceramic capacitors at the Input and Output of capacitors for Module PTH08T221WAD(Ceramic Version). Can we use Electrolytic capacitors to achieve the same Efficiency and Output Voltage noise mentioned in datasheet.
What are the Technical differences between PTH08T220WAD and PTH08T221WAD(Ceramic Version) DC to DC Converter module.

Also, Turbo Trans software is not available for download.

Hi Thivakar,

If you would like to use electrolytic capacitors, why not use the PTH08T220WAD itself?

The compensation network is different between the two devices. The PTH08T221WAD compensation is optimized so that it can be used with all ceramic capacitor configurations.

I will look into that T2 software mentioned on the product folder and why it cannot be downloaded.

Yes. We can use PTH08T220WAD in our design but, RoHS information is blocking for usage of this part. Please let us know if PTH08T220WAD is RoHS 2015 Compliant and please share document if anything available.

Hi, the PTH08T220WAD is RoHS compliant with the noted exemptions:

EU RoHS Rule Status:	Passed with Exemption
EU RoHS Exemptions:	R2-7a, R2-7c1
