TPS793: Start up time

Part Number: TPS793
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS731

Dear Team,

I understand that TPS793 is a product that features the fast start-up.

However, I would like to delay the rise time as a measure against inrush current.

Looking at " 6.5 Electrical Characteristics " of the datasheet, I think the start-up time can be delayed  by increasing CNR.

Is it OK to increase the CNR to the maximum ? If so, what is the expected start-up time ?

I think that the operation will be affected if the capacity is large.

The required specifications are as follows.

Vin=4.8V

Vout=4.6V

Iout=20mA to 30mA

inrush current=200mA or less

Sincerely,

  • Hi Luna,

    Because the TPS793 has the quick-start circuit, it is not easy to control the soft-start time and inrush. What do you think about using the TPS731 instead? This does not have the quickstart circuit and has a nice controlled slew rate as shown below:

    Do you think this can work for you?

  • Dear John Cummings,

    Thank you for your reply. I understand that TPS793 doesn't meet the requirements.

    One of the reasons I considered the TPS793 was price.

    I want to talk to a customer on TPS731.

    Yours sincerely,
