LMZM33603: Load for Output Voltage >13.5V

Part Number: LMZM33603

Hello,

We are considering using LMZM33603 for an application with 24V input, 15V output @1.8A. I notice in the datasheet it specifies up to 18V output @2A and up to 13.5V output up to @3A. Is this current range for sustained DC current? Would there be any concern for this application if there was a large load step to 1.8A? If an application is regulating to 15V output (or other voltage greater than 13.5V) and the current exceeds 2A, what is the response?

Regards,

Garret

  • Hi Garret,

    1. The current rating you mentioned is for sustained operating DC current. At higher load currents, in order to accommodate for power dissipation and temperature rise, the maximum output voltage is derated to 13.5V at 3A full load compared to 18V at 2A loading.
    2. Since the part is rated up to 3A, large load step to 1.8A would not impact the standard operation of the device.
    3. If you are wondering what the output current vs output voltage recommendation for this part is, refer to Figure 19. In your case for 15Vout, you may be able to push the sustained DC load current slightly above 2.5A.

    Regards,
