TPS54218: Warning about voltage pin which does not exist in schematic.

Part Number: TPS54218
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

I am using TI-Tina to simulate a power converter with TPS54218.  I think the simulation runs OK.  But I get a warning that Pin 1 of Voltage Pin VF2 is floating.  My schematic has no voltage pins.  I do have a voltage meter VM1 between output and ground.

I tried to submit this to the simulation tools forum but the part number forces me into power management forum.TPS54218 buck July 25 2020a.TSC

  • Hi Bob,

I will check with our SPICE team and I will get back to you asap.

But you are able to finish the simulation and obtain the results correct?

    Regards,

    Davor

  • Thank you, Davor.

Yes that is correct.  This is not urgent but the warnings do reduce my confidence in the results.  It would be helpful if TINA-TI offered a means of locating what might be an invisible "voltage pin".  If I try adding voltage pins, I get VF1 and then VF3.  So VF2 might exist somewhere.........

  • I now have (by accident) found VF2.  I wish that there was a way to search for the location of components in the schematic.  Looking at it now, VF2 looks reasonably obvious.  I do miss things sometimes, but I really spent effort looking for VF2 yesterday and could not find it.  This does not make sense.  I wonder whether there is something about TINA-TI which may have hidden VF2 pending closing and re-opening TINA-TI?
