TPS22948: Reverse Protection

Part Number: TPS22948

Hello,

We've used the TPS22948 switch for the HDMI 5V Output circuit.

It operates normally and turns on and off according to the EN pin but we encountered a problem - when the EN pin is low (meaning the switch is not conducting) but we accidentally connect an HDMI source to the same port, so the HDMI source is providing 5V on the OUT pin of TPS22948 - We see that the TPS22948 fails and 4.5V appears on the EN pin and it no longer operates normally. Can you elaborate if this is expected? Shouldn't the TPS22948 handle 5V that is applied to its output even if it is not enabled? I do want to note we've purchased this component from a distributor and not directly from TI.

Thanks,

Barak
