TPS54325: Output Short to Another Rail

Part Number: TPS54325

Hi team,

In my system, I found that two TPS54325 output has risk of short due to miswiring.

They are two different 3.3V rails generated by different TPS54325.

Interestingly, it is still working while the two 3.3V rails are shorted together.

Could you please share us helpful material to learn what can be expected when the output is shorted?

Do you think it has risk of blow up? What solution should we implement to avoid the issue?

Regards,

Itoh

  • Hi, Itoh

When output is shorted, IC will trigger UVP, you can refer "8.3.5 Overvoltage and Undervoltage Protection" in page10 of datasheet.

This is the IC self-protection method, there is no risk of blow up.
