TPS22912C: QOD of load switch

Part Number: TPS22912C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22913, TPS22917

Hello,

I have two questions regarding the TPS22912C:

1. the datasheet says it can be used in Smartphones, can you give me a example where this part can be used in Smartphones?  we are going to develop a platform like a smartphone and are now evaluating scenarios. and need your kind guidance.

2. TPS22912C integrated QOD function but some load switch does not have QOD function, how can i distinguish when to use QOD and when to use No-QOD ? Can you give a few examples ? Thank you so much in advance !

  • Hi User,

TPS22912C is a load switch and so it is meant for power distribution applications. Its small size and high integration make it efficient in space constrain applications like that in a smart phone. Off the top of my head, such load switches could be used to power on board loads for a system or to power DC/DC converters.

Please take a look at our "Smartphone" reference design on ti.com here: https://www.ti.com/solution/smartphone?variantid=23043&subsystemid=23068

For more information on load switches, please refer to this document: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva652a/slva652a.pdf

QOD is a listed feature on many of our devices but some applications require the output to be in a high-z state rather than being pulled to ground. To answer the varied needs, we offer switches both with and without QOD. Some switched like TPS22913 have QOD integrated inside the switch but TPS22912C does not have QOD integrated. Some devices like TPS22917 have a QOD pin which can be used if required or left floating if not required. You can filter out switches with QOD on the product selection page here: https://www.ti.com/power-management/power-switches/load-switches/products.html

The filter settings are to the left of the page.

Thank you for choosing TI Power Switches in your designs.
