LMR36506: Maximum output voltage with adjustable version?

Part Number: LMR36506

Dear TI-Team,

I wonder what the maximum output voltage of the LMR36506 in the adjustable version is. I cannot find any hint in the datasheet that it is limited to less than the dropout voltage due to the maximum ontime limitation but WEBENCH omits this part when I choose an output voltage of more than 24V.

For my application I've got an input voltage of 48V nom. and want to generate an output voltage of approx 40V. When operating at 400kHz that should IMHO not mess with neither maximum ontime nor with minimum offtime, so where does the 24V limitation come from?

Best regards

Robin

  • Hello

This device has internal compensation, that limits the ranges of output voltage and output capacitance.

The only "knob" to help adjust the loop compensation would be the feed-forward capacitor across the top

    feed-back resistor.

Typically with this type of device we would put a limit of 24Vout; larger output voltages were not tested.

If you need 40Vout, it may be best to look for a device with external compensation.

    Thanks
