LP5910: Asking for the better solution LDO recommendation

Part Number: LP5910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A20, LP5907,

Hi team,
customer would like to use the LDO.
Here are the spec.

  • Vin:2V
  • Vout:1.8V
  • Ioutmax:200mA
  • dropout voltage: less than 200mV
  • auto discharge

Would you please review and see any better proposal?

BR,
SHH

  • Hello SHH,

The TPS7A20 is our next generation component from the LP59xx series.  The TPS7A20 is expected to RTM in 4Q of this year.  Improvements include wider load current range (up to 300mA) and improved stability over the LP59xx line of devices.  It has the features your customer is asking for.  I would highly recommend the TPS7A20 if your customer can wait for it to RTM in 4Q of 2020.  Otherwise the LP5907 or LP5910 are good options here.

    Thanks,

    - Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,

I checked the TPS7A20, the dropout voltage is aroung 240mV.

Can you please confirm this spec?

    SHH

  • Hello SHH,

I believe the 240mV dropout is for 300mA load.  The customer is only using 200mA in the requirements which will reduce this number.  I'll ask the team what the dropout would be at 200mA load to confirm it is less than 200mV.

    Thanks,

    - Stephen

  • Hello SHH,

The test data is showing < 120mV of dropout across temperature for the TPS7A20 at 1.8V output and 200mA load.
This will meet the customers requirement of 200mV dropout.

    Thanks,

    - Stephen
