UCC27201: IC Max. operating current

Hi team,

I'd like to know IC's max. operating current of UCC27201.

From the datasheet, it looks I_DDO (5.5mA) + I_HBO (4mA) = IC operating current (9.5mA). Could you check if it's correct?

Additionally, can (VDD) * (IC operating current) be used to estimate a power consumption of the IC itself? Please advise on this. Thank you!

Hello Minkyung,

The operating currents in the condition of Fsw=500kHz with no capacitive load on the driver outputs is specified as you mentioned. The maximum is 5.5mA for IDDO and 4mA for IHBO.

The driver power dissipation will be dominated in almost all cases, by the current required to drive the MOSFET Qg. A good datasheet to reference to determine the driver IC power dissipation is the UCC27282. This datasheet can be found below.

Refer to section 8.2 especially equation 6 which is the majority of the driver power dissipation.
