TPS3840-Q1: VOL and leakage

Part Number: TPS3840-Q1

Hi team,

I am designing MCU reset circuit using TPS3840-Q1 as below.

VDD = button battery <4.5V

Vthreshold = 2.2V

V pullup = 1.8V

Pull up register value = 10kohm

Output I/F = Active Low Open Drain

1. Could you advise the VOL curve under the condition above just like Figure19, 20 in the datasheet?

2. How much will the output leakage current be?

3. How much is the minimum reset time delay (tD) at CT pin = Open?

regards,

  • Hi Shinji,

    The VOL should be approximately 200 mA as shown in the electrical characteristics table as well as the VOL curve for these conditions. The output leakage current, I assume you mean Ireset? This will be different depending on your system but should stay within 5mA. For the minimum reset time delay, this characterization can be seen in Figure 38.

    Thanks,
    Abhinav.

  • Hi Abhinav,

    1. I would like to know the actual (typ) VOL voltage at that condition. It seems VOL depends on VDD voltage from the Figure 20 especially at low VDD. I would like to know VOL especially at VDD=2.2V, pull up resistor = 10kohm.

    2. I would like to know ILKGOD).

    3. Figure 38 shows reset time delay at Vth=4.9V version. Can I use this figure for Vth=2.2V version?

    regards,

  • Hi Shinji,

    1. It looks like your Vol (typ) would be approximately 0.027V

    2. Can you clarify what you mean by this? Is this leakage current?

    3. Yes, there should be no data difference for that version for time delay.

    Thanks,

    Abhinav.

  • Hi Abhinav,

    2 is Ilkg(OD) : Open-Drain output leakage current in the datasheet.

    It is described in the datasheet page18 as below.

    The pull-up resistor value determines the actual VOL, the output capacitive loading, and the output leakage current (ILKG(OD)).

    regards,

  • Hi Shinji,

    The Ilkg(OD) will be a max of 90nA, as described in the datasheet. It will likely be lower as the test conditions describe the worst case.

    Thanks,

    Abhinav.
