BQ25616: temperature rises quickly when charging

my customer is using BQ25616J to charge one cell voltage with 12V input.

At 1.2A charge current, the IC's temperature rises to 67C at 10seconds, while the board temperature is just 27C.

The board is 50mmx120mm so it's large, and we have poured copper ground so the heat dissipation should be okay.

So I suspect it's the IC's ground plane is not soldered well.

Do we have temperature data for our BQ25616JEVM? What's the normal temperature for this IC at 1.2A charge current?

    1. What are your test conditions such as VBUS (voltage at VBUS pin), IVBUS, VBAT (voltage at BAT pin), IBAT, VSYS, ISYS?

    2. Is the exposed thermal pad on the backside of the device package soldered to the PCB ground correctly? And does the IC land pattern follow the example via layout design on page 47 of the d/s? Please refer to 12.1 Layout Guidelines on the d/s for the details.
