TPS56339: Short Circuit Input protection

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer have designed a circuit using Webench that steps down 24V to 5V. He wants to know if TPS56339 will require a short circuit input protection from Vin to GND?

If it does, is there any short circuit protection that you would recommend?

    Hi,

    The TPS56339 implements internal undervoltage-lockout (UVLO) circuitry on the VIN pin. The device is disabled when the VIN pin voltage falls below the internal VIN UVLO threshold, VIN falling threshold typical value 3.7V, Which can protect the IC if VIN short to GND. The internal VIN UVLO threshold has a hysteresis of 510 mV.

    If  application requires a higher UVLO threshold on the VIN pin, the EN pin can be configured with two external resistors, as shown in Figure 15 (Page 11 in data sheet).
