Hello,

I wanted some clarity on the range of input voltages that could be supplied to LM1117I-3.3V. The datasheet shows a range Iout between 0 to 800mA for Vin 4.75V to 10V. Is this accurate? Because I was of the opinion that the input could be 12V nominal.

Hi Harsh,

The recommended highest Vin is 15V as shown in 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions. The specification of the device, however, only has data up to 10V for the 3.3V output option. Due to the age of this device, we have very limited support.

So safe to say I can apply 12V nominal to the device?
Also, alternately would you suggest an alternative to the device since it is old.

Will you tell us a little more about your application? Vin? Vout? Iload? Any PSRR or noise requirement?

The Vin is 12V nominal ranging over 10.35V to 13.65V. The Vout required is 3.3V. I(load) Capability at least of 800mA is desirable.

Harsh,

Please use TLV1117 and it should support your requirements as it's cheaper and has the exact specs as LM1117. Also, LM1117 should also work up to 15V.
