BQ24190: Inquiry about temperature protection

Hi TI team,

we are using thermistor for temp protection. As a result of the test, BQ24190's protection behavior is different at high and low temperatures.

At high temperatures, charging is cut off after a certain period of time passes when charging starts.

At low temperatures, charging is cut off immediately without flowing current when charging starts.

Refer to the test result waveform below.

Please tell me why the BQ24190's protective operation is different(High temp vs Low temp).

Hi Ning,

Thank you for your quickly answer.

The operation range of DURING is wider than that of INITIATE. If INITIATE Charge has been activated, DURING charge should also be activated.

Am I wrong?

To initiate a charge cycle, the battery temperature must be within the VLTF to VHTF thresholds. During the charge cycle the battery temperature must be within the VLTF to VTCO thresholds, else the device suspends charging and waits until the battery temperature is within the VLTF to VHTF range. REG09[2:0] also indicates the TS status.
