TPS61088: Could I use TPS61088 as a boost bypass application?

Part Number: TPS61088
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61022, TPS55288

Dear Sir,

Could I use TPS61088 as a boost bypass application?

Condition is:
Vin 4V~5.5V, Vout of TPS61088 is set to 4.5V.

Expect Vout is 4.5V if Vin below 4.5V.
Expect Vout is similar to Vin if Vin is higher than 4.5V.

Thanks,
Hugo

  • Dear Sir,

What is your output current? Suggest you take a look at TPS61022/61023.

  • It's output will be set to 4.5V , average output current is ~ 2A, short duration peak current may near 3A.

Input source will be 5V power bank, 5V QC/PD adapter.

Thus, it's better to use higher boost Vin range IC, ex 6V or 7V Vin range will be safer.

Our schematic will put a 6V OVP IC.

Do you think it shall be save for TPS61022 Vin 0.5V ~ 5.5V?

    or...

Do you have boost that function like TPS61022 and have higher Vin 6V~7V range?

The purpose for using this boost-bypass is to make sure the IR drop from 5V Vin won't cause reach to below 4.5V...

    Thanks,

  • Dear Sir,

No, TPS61022 is the most fit part, but it is only 5.5Vin maximum.

Then they have to use TPS55288.  This part support buck-boost operation.
