PMP30157: battery charger solution

Part Number: PMP30157

Good day,

My customer is looking for battery charger solution with Sepic topology for Li-ion battery (3s-4s), Input 6-42V, output 11-17V. They look at PMP30157 as a reference, but they need standalone solution (with charging termination), could you recommend something? Thank you.

Sincerely,

Daria

  • Hello Daria,

attached PMP30734 supporting automotive input and charging a 4s battery to 16.8V.
This solution is cost effective by using CC/CV - by reaching 16.8V at the battery
the output current has been already reduced to only a few milliAmperes.

If you want to shut down the charger just add a watchdog, a simple comparator, and
disable the converter at controller pin 3. The rectifier D3 prevents the battery from being
discharged on a first glance, but feedback divider R18 + R19 loads your battery w/ slightly
more than 100uA. If this is an issue the watchdog could be replaced by a windows comparator,
the hysteresis allows you to keep the battery in a certain output voltage range.

    Best regards, Bernd
