WEBENCH® Tools/LM2576HV: LM2576HV Webench desine - inductor alternatives

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I used Webench to design a regulator from 30-60V to 12V, 2.1A.

The recommended inductor is Wurth 74437529203331.

This item is usually not stocked, and with long lead time.

But the Webench didn't offer any alternative for this component.

I have found Murata 60B334C and Bourns 1140-331K-RC that looks like possible alternative.

How can I make sure these items are OK as an alternative?

Besides ensuring the inductance is equivalent, Ensure the saturation current is equal to or greater than that of the high side current limit.

Core material dictates losses. Ferrite will perform better at higher switching frequency though have hard saturation. Metal alloy, will have good switching characteristic and have soft saturation.

hard saturation is inductance falls off quite rapidly with current level approaching that of its "saturation" current.

soft saturation inductance would fall off slow.

Interesting topic to look up on, as we must be aware of inductor properties when selecting inductor.
